Reports are coming in of a fire in the city's highest office block last night. At approximately 7.30 pm, a fire started in one of the offices of an insurance company. The only people (1) in the building at this time were cleaners and the building security guards. The fire quickly spread to other floors and stopped the cleaner on the fifth floor (2) leaving the room he was working in. The cleaner placed a wet towel over his face which (3) him to breathe. He was able to use his mobile phone to call the Fire Department, who arrived to fight the fire 10 minutes later.
Unfortunately, firemen were (4) from (5) the building by the fire, so they were (6) to use ladders on the outside of the building to rescue those trapped inside. The cleaners and the guards were carried to safety, and no one was badly hurt. A large crowd of journalists had gathered outside the building, but the Fire Department didn't (7) anyone stand too near until the fire had been put out. Firemen discovered later that the fire had been started by a cigarette in a wastepaper bin.
